Township Police Issue Summonses, Advise Residents Not to Dump Gasoline

Police also reported collisions between a car and a cyclist and a car and a deer.

Township police issued several summonses this week after a restaurant was found to have canvassed mailboxes without a permit and a driver was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

Police said Panda Chinese Restaurant in Summit was issued a summons on Sunday after they were found to be leaving restaurant flyers in township mailboxes without having a permit to do so.

Police also issued a summons this week to J. Randal Fuentes Cordero, of Memphis, Tenn., after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and found to have a suspended license, registration and insurance.

In other news, police said they wanted to remind residents not to dump gasoline, oil or other similar items into storm drains, since doing so can cause environmental damage. Police said several people inquired about the matter after a fatal fire on Monday on River Road.

The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority will conduct a household hazardous waste disposal and computer/television drop-off event at Chatham High School on May 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. County residents will be able to drop off such items at the event.

Police also reported a car-bicycle accident this week—the cyclist sustained minor injuries after colliding with a car backing out of a driveway, police said—and responded to a car-deer accident on River Road.
