Police: Woman Causes Crash After Running Stop Sign

Borough Police responded to two accidents Friday.

A Chatham woman allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Chatham Street and Washington Avenue on Friday, Chatham Borough Police said Monday.

At 12:07 p.m. Friday, Patrolman Joseph Crecca responded to an intersection at Washington Avenue and Chatham Street, police said.

His investigation revealed that a Helen Polise, 50, of Chatham was driving a 2010 Jeep west on Chatham Street when she allegedly ran the stop sign and struck a 2001 Honda traveling north on Washington Avenue, police said.

The Honda was driven by Rajvinder Singh, 41, of Chatham. Singh complained of neck pain and was transported by the Chatham Emergency Squad, according to police.

Polise was issued a summons for failure to stop at the stop sign, police said.

The Chatham Borough Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Borough police responded to another crash earlier in the day that involved three vehicles on Main Street near Garden Avenue.

Patrolman Richard Richard responded to the scene at about 7:40 a.m. Dorrit Stagg, 86, of Chatham, had crashed her 2004 Chrysler into the car in front of her, which then pushed into the car in front of it, according to police.

The drivers of the other two cars were Jennifer Rabe, 48, of Chatham, and Kimberly McIntee, 41, of Succasunna, police said.

McIntee complained of knee pain but refused treatment at the scene, according to police. Stagg complained of chest pain and was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the Chatham Emergency Squad, police said.

The Chatham Borough Fire Department also responded to the scene.
