Sewer Project to Cause Traffic Delays, Detours in Chatham Township

Construction expected to begin Monday and last several weeks on Fairmount Avenue and Southern Boulevard.

Motorists should plan an alternate route starting next week when a major sewer line project will impact traffic on Fairmount Avenue and Southern Boulevard, police said.

The construction is expected to begin "on or about" Monday and will last several weeks.

The project will impact the following areas:

  • Fairmount Avenue westbound between Southern Boulevard and Runnymede Road will be closed for an indefinite period of time.
  • Southern Boulevard northbound between River Road and Fairmount Avenue will be closed for an indefinite period of time once the project crosses the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Southern Boulevard.
Detours will be posted, but motorists should still plan an alternate route to prevent extensive travel delays, police said.
