Police: No Leads in Townsquare Burglaries

No sign of stolen merchandise, police say.

Chatham Borough Police said they have not found the person or persons responsible for breaking into two Townsquare businesses in April.

A cleaning crew entering at 7 Townsquare on the evening of April 15 found that the salon had been forcibly entered. A jewelry display case had been shattered and the contents, approximately $4,700 in jewelry and leather goods, were stolen.

Sally Lunn's Tea Room in the same shopping center was also forcibly entered, and the owner reported approximately $500 of silverware was taken.

Kevin O'Shea of the Chatham Borough Police Department said that the police currently have no leads in the case. "It's hard to tell if it's someone from the area, or if they were just passing through," O'Shea said.

Police have not recovered any of the stolen merchandise, and without witnesses or cameras in the area at the time of the burglaries, they do not know if the stores were burglarized by one person or several, or if the perpetrators were passing through or local to the area.
