Police Issue Summonses After Crash Causes Injuries

Chatham Borough Police Department responds to three other motor vehicle accidents.

Seven occupants of two cars reported minor or moderate injuries following an accident on Main Street near Hillside Avenue on Saturday, according to the .

A 2011 Honda driven by Michael Raphael, 36 of Florham Park, was travelling west when it allegedly crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Lexus traveling in the opposite direction. Police issued summonses to Raphael for failure to keep right and careless driving. Police said the driver of the Lexus stated she thought the Honda may have been trying to turn left onto Hillside Avenue.

Allyson Cunningham, 47 of Verona, was issued a summons on Sept. 15 for carless driving when she allegedly drove her 2002 Chevrolet into a 2003 Ford that was stopped in traffic on Watchung Avenue.

Brenda Harris, 56 of East Orange, was issued a summons for careless driving on Monday when she allegedly drove her 2004 Toyota into a 1997 Ford at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Main Street. Police said Harris stated she was stopped in traffic looking at directions and when she looked up she started to drive, not realizing the light had turned red. There were no injuries reported.

Borough police responded to a two-car crash on Main Street near Fairmount Avenue on Sept. 16 when a 2008 Lexus was allegedly struck from behind by a 1995 Toyota while the Lexus was stopped at a red light. No one was injured, and no summonses were issued.
