Police: 20-Year-Old Tries to Buy 30-Pack With Fake ID

New Providence resident charged after attempted purchase at Bottle King.

An underage New Providence man was arrested Thursday after allegedly trying to purchase alcohol with an apparent fake ID from the  last weekend, Chatham Borough Police said.

According to a statement released Friday by the police department, Marc Iacovelli, 20, was charged with misrepresentation of age by using a fake identification.

Police said the manager of the Watchung Avenue liquor store reported on Tuesday that an individual, who was later identified as Iacovelli, attempted to purchase a 30-pack of beer with a fraudulent New Jersey driver's license on Saturday. The clerk determined the license was fake and denied the purchase, police said.
