Nearly $5K in Cash and Goods Stolen in Townsquare Business Burglaries

An estimated $4,700 in jewelry, cash and leather goods were taken from a borough store and another was found ransacked Friday, police said.

According to a statement released by the police department, patrols responded to at 7 Townsquare Friday at approximately 10:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a burglary.

A cleaning crew had discovered the salon burglarized when they arrived to clean the business, police said.

Police determined that a door was pried open at the end of the handicap ramp and the inside of the business was ransacked. A jewelry display case was shattered and the contents stolen, police said.

The owner was contacted and came to the scene, and reported that some leather goods had also been taken, police said. A cash register had been opened and money taken, according to police.

The total value of stolen property was estimated at $4,700, police said.

As police checked the surrounding businesses, they discovered that Sally Lunn's Tea Room was also forcibly entered, according to the statement.

The glass in a rear door was smashed, allowing entry into the business, police said. The interior was ransacked but the owner was unable to determine what, if anything, was taken, according to police.
