North Carolina Man Arrested for Alleged Drunk Driving

The 44-year-old man was arrested Friday.

Chatham Borough Police arrested a 44-year-old North Carolina man Friday for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Police said Patrolman Joseph Crecca was on Hillside Avenue investigating a motor vehicle accident at approximately 11:15 p.m. Friday. While talking to one of the drivers, police said he noticed a Ford Explorer approaching at a high rate of speed.

According to police, Crecca used his flashlight to try to get the driver's attention and get him to slow down. As the vehicle passed through the accident scene, Crecca yelled at him to stop and the driver finally did, police said.

Police said as Crecca spoke to the driver of the vehicle, he believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the driver, Ronald Rodriguez-Camareno, 44, of Henderson, N.C., became uncooperative and attempted to walk away from the scene, Camareno was eventually placed under arrest and brought to headquarters for breath testing, according to police.

Police said Camareno was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. After processing, he was released to a friend pending further court action, according to police.
