NJAW Says Discolored Water Safe to Drink

Water has been routed through pipes not used in a long time.

New Jersey American Water said discolored water coming to some homes is safe to drink, according to township police.

Police made the announcement via a Nixle alert.

The water company said it has rerouted some of its water because of the high demand associated with the heat. It may have sent some of its water through pipes not used in a long time, which could cause discoloration.
