Mercedes Stolen From Dunkin' Donuts Lot

SUV left running while owner went inside, Chatham police said.

An SUV left running at Dunkin' Donuts on Main Street Tuesday morning was stolen while its owner went in the store, Chatham police said.

Chatham Borough police responded to the reported theft at about 7:35 a.m., department spokesman Kevin O'Shea said in a news release.

The owner, a resident of Kings Road, told police she left the 2013 Mercedes GLK running while she went inside.

Store surveillance showed a late model Porsche parked next to the woman’s car. Someone got out of the Porsche and into the Mercedes, and then both cars fled at a high rate of speed eastbound on Main Street, according to police.
