Men Claim to Have Gun, Rob Parsippany Pharmacy, Cops Say

Duo allegedly steals $300 from Lake Hiawatha's Rite Aid early Sunday evening.

Two men—one claiming to have a gun—robbed a North Beverwyck Road pharmacy of $300 early Sunday evening, Parsippany Police said.

Two men entered the Rite Aid Pharmacy and approached a cashier at the front of the store Sunday at about 5:50 p.m., according to police.

Police said one of the men told the cashier he had a gun and demanded money from the register. The employee opened the drawer, allowing one of the men to reach over the counter and take cash, police said. Police said the men fled the area on foot with $300.

No weapon was displayed during the incident, police said.

Both men were described as white with a similar thin build, about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 and they were believed to be in their early 20s, police said. One man was wearing a grey hooded-sweatshirt with “Tapout” written on the chest and the other was wearing a black baseball cap and a black sweatshirt, police said.

A search of the area for the two men was unsuccessful, police said.

The pharmacy, located at 480 N. Beverwyck Road, is less than a mile from Kazumi Sushi, 81 N. Beverwyck Road, where a Parsippany man allegedly stabbed his 34-year-old wife to death late Friday night.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact the Parsippany Police Department at 973-263-4300 or via Crime_Tips@parpolice.com.

There are still Specials, they patrol the school areas in the evenings. You can see them in the old blue and white cars.

How does promoting a person to Captain, which is a less then $10,000 a year increase in grade and eliminating a Lieutenants position pay for 5 patrolman??? The department is in the hiring process, it takes time. How can taking the patrolman out of the "administrative roles" and out on patrol save on benefits? If you replace them with secretaries, you still have to pay them salaries and benefits. Benefits cost the town the same, police officer, secretary or mayor. You don't think that if there is something going on in town, those officers who work inside do not go out and assist??? Every town has a public information OFFICER. To call these officers armed secretaries is an insult.

Mrs. K what good are the specials doing around the schools, when the crime is happening uptown, if you going for a ride around the town, you'll see a few patrol cars sitting next to each other just throwing the bull for awhile. I have seen sometimes 2 and 3 patrol cars park by the parks side by side and the same thing around town in other areas. What are they doing but having coffee?

Did you know that there was a homeless man living in the woods between Eastlake school and Lanidex plaza this summer???? Do you know how many kids are at Eastlake, or any of the schools during the summer and evenings playing basketball or hanging out on the playgrounds??? Their parents aren't always around. I live directly in front of Eastlake, their are ALWAYS kids their, mostly unsupervised. Sgt.'s are on the street, going to jobs, before the end of their shifts, they need to review and sign off on reports for the men who are directly under them. If it is busy, they will meet up "side by side" to facilitate that since sometimes they can't make it back to headquarters. And before you ask, I come from a family full of cops.
