Garbage Truck Accidentally Discharges Load

Police said the garbage blocked the roadway in Post Office Plaza.

A Rockaway man was issued a summons for obstructing traffic after the garbage truck he was driving accidentally discharged its contents.

Patrolman Andrew Pereira of the Chatham Borough Police Department responded to Post Office Plaza at 10:41 a.m. Friday on a report that a garbage truck lost its load, police said.

The truck, owned by N. Tassielli Disposal of Rockaway, accidentally discharged the garbage it carried into the street, blocking the roadway, according to police.

The driver, Jerry McMickle, Sr., of Rockaway, told Pereira he accidentally activated the control that dumps the garbage, police said.

The debris was cleaned up by a private company hired by Tassielli, police said.
