At the time, Bochniak said the fox had been chewing on itself and had generally been acting in an odd manner.

The killing came after animal control officials and police twice observed a fox acting strangely on Jan. 14. That fox was spotted on River Road by the New Jersey Transit overpass and by Fairmount Cemetery.
