Flat Tire Leads to DWI Arrest, Police Say

Florham Park man arrested after driving on the rim of his vehicle down Main Street, according to police.

An intoxicated Florham Park man was arrested on the Madison-Chatham border early Monday morning after an officer noticed he was driving with a flat tire, police said.

William Joyce, 21, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.

According to a Chatham Borough police statement, Officer Wayne Shivers spotted a 2000 Dodge riding on its rim due to a flat tire traveling westbound on Main Street at about 1 a.m. Monday.

Shiver stopped the vehicle on Main Street in Madison and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.

Joyce was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests, police said. Joyce was charged and later released to a family member.

Boy, that cop really nailed this guy on multiple marijuana counts. The young man is lucky that driving on a rim is not illegal otherwise they would have really thrown the book at him. AT least he must have had his seat belt on.

I wish the cops would also pull over all the idiots who don't use their turn signals, drive over the lines on the road as if they aren't there, ignore the speed limits, and tailgate.
