Flat Tire Leads to DWI Arrest, Police Say

Florham Park man arrested after driving on the rim of his vehicle down Main Street, according to police.

An intoxicated Florham Park man was arrested on the Madison-Chatham border early Monday morning after an officer noticed he was driving with a flat tire, police said.

William Joyce, 21, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.

According to a Chatham Borough police statement, Officer Wayne Shivers spotted a 2000 Dodge riding on its rim due to a flat tire traveling westbound on Main Street at about 1 a.m. Monday.

Shiver stopped the vehicle on Main Street in Madison and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.

Joyce was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests, police said. Joyce was charged and later released to a family member.
