Firemen Honored for Service During Irene
Mayor Nelson Vaughan nominated 13 firemen for recognition at a state-wide ceremony.
Mayor Nelson Vaughan nominated 18 members of the to be honored for their efforts during at the New Jersey State Volunteer Recognition Ceremony on Oct. 26 in Trenton.
The following members of the department deserved to be honored, Vaughan wrote on the nomination form, "because [they are] full-volunteer [firemen] with the Chatham Borough Fire Department who worked tirelessly for three solid days with little or no sleep. [They] helped pump out close to 100 flooded basements [and] helped respond to [the] following calls: 10 downed wires, three trees on houses and three fire alarms (equivalent to three months [of] calls in three days.)"
