Firefighters Knock Down Bedroom Blaze At Township Residence

Fire was contained to one room; one person treated for smoke inhalation but no one taken to the hospital.

Firefighters responded to a blaze at a home at 202 Meyersville Road in the township on late Saturday morning.

Chatham Township Deputy Fire Chief Jim Pignatello Sr. said the fire was contained to the bedroom, where the mattress, dresser, curtains, and other contents were burning. Pignatello said the fire was contained to the room, and knocked down quickly after the firefighters arrived.

Pignatello said the fire's cause has not been determined at this time.

No major injuries were reported and no one was taken to the hospital, though Pignatello said a resident was treated on scene for smoke inhalation.

Along with the Chatham Township Fire Department, the Chatham Borough, Green Village and Summit departments also responded. The Chatham Emergency Squad also reported to the scene. Firefighters remained at the residence conducting duties for more than an hour after responding to the scene.
