East Granby Woman Killed in Southwick Crash

Haley Tierney, 22, was a passenger in vehicle that crashed Monday morning.

A young East Granby woman was killed in a Southwick, Mass. car crash early Monday morning, police in that town said.

Haley Tierney was a passenger in a car that veered off of Granville Road, down an embankment and into some trees around approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday, Southwick Lt. David Ricardi said.

The operator of the car, Jillian Rolland, 21, of Southwick and a passenger Jayme Barry, 21, of Simsbury, were also injured and transported to Bay State Medical Center. Rolland is in fair condition and Barry was released, a hospital spokeswoman said early Tuesday afternoon.

Tierney was a 2009 graduate of East Granby High School.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, Ricardi said.

East Granby First Selectman James M. Hayden said he did not know Tierney but sent his condolences to the family.

"It certainly is a sad moment for East Granby," Hayden said.

You can be sure with David Ricardi investigating that it won't be done efficiently. The Southwick PD is LAZY when it comes to doing their job! My condolences to Haley's family.

Is there a reason why people persist in posting pictures of these horrific scenes when someone dies? This was done with my brother and again here. It's really wrong.

there are allegations that the driver was stopped for a DUI the night before but got off because her dad is a cop! If, if that is true someone is in a lot of trouble.
