Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested on Watchung Avenue
Madison resident faces driving while intoxicated and other charges.
A Madison resident was arrested during the early-morning hours Thursday for allegedly driving while intoxicated on Watchung Avenue, according to a statement released by the Chatham Borough Police Department.
A Chatham police officer witnessed a 2006 Dodge on Watchung Avenue cross over the center lines twice, police said in a statement. The vehicle was pulled over on Watchung Avenue near Fairmount Avenue at about 2:10 a.m.
The driver, David Allan, 27, of Madison, "showed signs of intoxication," according to the statement released by police. Allan then failed a sobriety test, police said.

Allan was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and reckless driving, according to the statement.
Police said Allan has been released to a friend, pending further court action.
