Cops: Juveniles Robbed, Threatened With Violence

Two teens apprehended at Chatham Train Station following Friday evening incident.

Two teenagers were caught after allegedly threatening to use a knife and robbing a group of juveniles Friday evening in the area of Washington Avenue and Front Street, said Monday.

A 16-year-old from Morris Plains and 15-year-old from Morris Township were each charged with four counts of robbery, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of terroristic threats and one count of theft, police said.

According to police, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the area of Washington Avenue and Front Street Friday shortly before 6 p.m. Dispatch initially reported the two suspects fled the scene in a blue Honda headed toward the train station, police said.

The juvenile victims were identified at the corner of Washington Avenue and Front Street. The victims told police there were three suspects, two of whom fled on foot and a third left in a car in an unknown direction, police said.

The victims told officers the two suspects who fled on foot robbed them and threatened to use a knife. However, no knife was displayed and wasn't found following a search of the area, police said. None of the juveniles were hurt, police said.

Officers then apprehended two teens fitting the description provided by the victims on the south side platform of the , police said.

The teens were transported to police headquarters for processing. The teens were both lodged in the Morris County Youth Detention Center pending future hearings.
