Chatham Woman Accused of New Providence Burglary

Matthew Cardiello, 30, of Summit, and Nancy Fico, 23, of Chatham, charged in connection with Nov. 18 incident.

Two people were arrested last weekend in connection with a New Providence home burglary earlier this month, police said.

Matthew Cardiello, 30, of Summit, and Nancy Fico, 23, of Chatham, were each charged last Saturday with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

According to Det. Stephen Drown, the charges stem from a Nov. 18 burglary on Bergen Road where the back door was forced open and jewelry was stolen from drawers in the master bedroom.

The pair were also found in possession of jewelry stolen in a Glen Ridge residential burglary last Friday, Drown said.

The Maplewood and Summit police departments assisted in making the arrests, Drown said.

Cardiello is being held at the Essex County Jail in lieu of $10,000 and Fico has been released on $5,000 bail.
