Chatham Township Police Rescue Family Dog From Burning Home

There were no injuries in blaze that caused significant damage to the basement and first floor of a Magnolia Place home.

Chatham Township police officers rescued a dog from a burning Magnolia Place home Wednesday afternoon.

The fire began in the ceiling of the finished basement and worked its way up the back of the residence, causing significant damage to the basement and first floor, according to NJ.com.

Only the family dog was inside at the time of the fire, which broke out at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, the report said.

There were no injuries in the fire, which was believed to be accidental, according to the report.
