Bicycle, Pedestrian Safety Program Draws More Than 50 People

Chatham Township police set up training course in high school parking lot.

More than 50 children and adults participated in a bicycle and pedestrian safety program run by the Chatham Township Police Department this month, Chief Steven Hennelly said.

The Oct. 5 event at Chatham High School included a bicycle safety course. Officers also showed young pedestrians how to safely cross the street, the chief said.

Officers Scott Herchick and Anthony Loporto attended a safety training seminar ahead of time to broaden their knowledge.

Lt. Maureen Kazaba, Sgt. Robert Scheetz, Officer David Weinert and Officer James Lattoz also provided safety insight during the event.
