Cops: Residents Charged With Assault

The following information was obtained directly from the Chatham Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The arrested two Chatham residents on separate incidents of assault and criminal mischief Saturday.

Sgt. Edward Gibney and Officers Michael Giannone and Scott Herchick responded to a residence on Meyersville Road Saturday morning at about 1 a.m., police said.

Police responded because Morris County Dispatch received a 911 call where someone could be heard crying in the background before the call was disconnected, police said.

Upon the officers' arrival, two male subjects were found in the driveway with bloody shirts, according to police.

One of the men, Michael Adams, 24, of Chatham had extensive injuries, police said.

After a subsequent investigation, it was determined Adams had caused damage to the residence and assaulted a female occupant of the home, according to police.

Adams was arrested, transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and charged with simple assault and criminal mischief, police said.

Adams was later released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear for a first hearing in municipal court on March 27, according to police.

Cedar Lane

At 10:22 p.m. Saturday, Officers Michael Giannone and Kelly Sretenovic responded to a residence on Cedar Lane on a welfare check from an anonymous caller, police said.

Upon the officers' arrival, they observed a broken window and could hear an argument inside the home, according to police.

The officers then witnessed another front window of the residents being broken and a female inside the home being assaulted, police sad.

Police detained and arrested a male subject, Warren Perillo, 32, of Chatham, in the backyard after he fled the residence, according to police.

A further investigation determined there was a second assault victim and extensive damage inside the residence, police said.

Perillo was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and charged with two counts of simple assault and criminal mischief, according to police.

Perillo was later committed to the Morris County Jail, police said. Bail was set at $1,000 by Judge Gary Troxel with a preliminary court date of March 27, police said.
