Chatham Police Warn of Storms, Hail Saturday

released a Nixle alert warning of potentially severe thunderstorms Saturday evening.

The storm is expected to hit between 6 and 8 p.m. with a powerful cold front that could result in heavy showers and cloud-to-ground lightning.

Moderate hail of three-quarter inches, wind gusts between over 50 miles-per-hour and tornadoes are also likely, according to the release.

The storm could bring down trees and power lines. Police warn residents to prepare for power loss and urge residents not to travel during the storm.

A partial clearing is expected after midnight.
