UPDATE: Bentley, Infiniti Stolen in Township

Chatham Township Police said several residents have reported car thefts recently.

Chatham Township Police released a statement Tuesday detailing two car thefts in recent weeks.

Police said a Morristown resident reported his 2007 Bentley was stolen from the Fairmount Country Club parking lot while he was having dinner on Sept. 3.

The owner told police he parked the car at 6 p.m. When he returned at 9:38 p.m. he found the car missing, police said.

The vehicle is valued at $180,000, according to police.

Police said a resident of Heritage Drive reported her 2006 Infiniti was stolen from a locked garage on Sept. 13.

The resident said she last saw the vehicle at 9:30 p.m. and found it missing at 11 p.m., police said. The resident was at home during that time, according to police.

The vehicle is valued at $18,000, police said.

A Recent Trend

Police released a Nixle alert Wednesday evening saying several car thefts have been reported in the borough and township recently.

Police urge residents in the township and borough to lock their cars and take their keys inside at night.
