Cops: Brooklyn Driver Had Suspended License

The following information was obtained directly from the Chatham Borough Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

stopped a driver for speeding over Easter weekend and found he had an outstanding warrant and suspended license.

On Saturday, April 7, at 1:46 a.m., Det. Daniel Walsh stopped a 2003 Mercedes on US Route 24 for speeding, police said.

The driver was identified as Rajae Awad, 32, of Brooklyn, police said.

It was discovered Awad had a $300 warrant out of the Lacey Township Municipal Court and his license was suspended, according to police.

Awad was arrested and brought back to headquarters for processing, police said.

Awad posted the $300 bail and was issued summonses for speeding and driving while suspended, according to police.
