Borough Unveils New Local Alert System

Steve Williams demonstrates how to sign up for AlertChathamBorough.

Chatham Borough has instituted a new official alert system for emergencies called AlertChathamBorough, and Deputy Emergency Management Director Steve Williams sat down with Chatham Patch recently to demonstrate the sign-up process.

Residents who register with AlertChathamBorough can sign up to be contacted via cell phone, home phone, pager, email, fax or text, and in the order they wish.

The borough will use AlertChathamBorough to alert residents about other critical events in town, such as road closures, power outages, fires, floodings and local events. Residents can choose what they wish to be notified about, and if they have special needs that require consideration such as TTD/TTY services for the hearing impaired.
