Borough Man Arrested on Drug Dealing Charges

The arrest ends a six-week investigation by Chatham Borough police.

A Bowers Lane man was arrested on drug dealing charges after an investigation by Chatham Borough Police.

Colin Knott, 36, was arrested May 10 after an investigation by local police, the Morris Prosecutor's Office Special Enforcement Unit and the Morris Sheriff's CID and K-9 units, said Kevin O'Shea, spokesperson for the Chatham Borough Police Department.

Detective Daniel Walsh received a tip on March 25 that drugs were being sold out of the home, O'Shea said. Authorities conducted surveillance on the Bowers Lane property.

Knott was found to be in possession of prescription drugs, marijuana and BB guns, O'Shea said.

The charges against Knott include:

  • five counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance;
  • possession of controlled dangerous substances (Oxycodone, Roxicodone, Adderall and Xanax);
  • possession of controlled dangerous substances with the intent to distribute;
  • possession of controlled dangerous substances with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school;
  • possession of controlled dangerous substances with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park;
  • possession of a weapon (2 BB guns) while in possession of controlled dangerous substances with the intent to distribute;
  • possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana;
  • possession of paraphernalia;
  • possession of a hypodermic needle.

Knott was imprisoned at the Morris County Correctional Facility after he failed to pay $25,000 in bail with no 10 percent option, O'Shea said.
