Alleged Drunk Livingston Man Arrested

Police pulled the man over in Summit and administered a sobriety test.

A 21-year-old Livingston man was arrested Sunday for allegedly driving while intoxicated, Chatham Borough Police said.

Sgt. Scott A. O'Connor observed a 2009 Toyota drive through a red light at the intersection of River Road and Watchung Avenue at approximately 2 a.m., according to police.

O'Connor stopped this car on River Road in Summit and identified the driver as Christopher O'Neill, 21, police said.

O'Neill allegedly showed signs of intoxication and failed a field sobriety test, police said. He was transported to police headquarters, where police said breath testing confirmed that he was over the legal limit.

O'Neill was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failing to stop before making a right on a red light, police said.

He was released to a friend pending further court action, according to police.
