Summons Issued for Truck Driver who Blocked Borough Traffic

The 18-wheel truck blocked off both lanes of traffic on Fairmount Avenue Friday afternoon.

An 18-wheel truck was stuck on Fairmount Ave. at Railroad Plaza South late Friday afternoon. Both lanes of traffic were blocked off.

Police said that the driver was driving north on Fairmount Avenue when he realized that his truck was too tall for the railroad bridge.

In attempting to turn the truck around, a hinge on the trailer got caught on a guiee wire for a utility pole, police said.

The truck was stuck just south of the bridge on Fairmount Avenue, blocking both lanes of traffic, until JCP&L employees came out to remove the wire from the trailer. Fairmount Avenue opened up again in about an hour.

Police said the driver was issued a summons for careless driving.
