Girl, 13, Suffers Minor Injuries After Struck By Vehicle

Police said speed was not a factor in the incident Thursday evening.

A 13-year-old Chatham Borough girl suffered minor injuries after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday evening while crossing Main Street, said.

The girl was driven to Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad with cuts and abrasions, according to police.

According to police, Patrolman Jeffrey Battiloro and Patrolman Andrew Chase responded to the scene on Main Street near , where they had received a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle Thursday evening at about 5:50 p.m.

Two juveniles were attempting to cross Main Street mid-block and one, a 13-year-old borough girl, was struck by a car, police said.

The car was driven by Lenore Luckey, 64, of Madison, who was traveling west on Main Street toward Madison, police said.

Police said speed does not appear to be a factor and witnesses stated the pedestrians were attempting to cross Main Street without caution.

No summonses were issued in this incident, according to police.

The scene was cleared by 6:25 p.m.
