Chatham Township Wins 5th Annual Winter Classic Hockey Game

Fifth Annual Chatham 'Winter Classic' hockey game.

In 2007 a group of CHS sophomores organized an outdoor hockey game, borough vs. township, played on the pond off of Linden Lane.

The "tradition" continued this year with the fifth annual game indoors at Twin Oaks as Mother Nature declined to provide outdoor ice.

The township team, coached by Fred Nelson, inlcuded Brian Weismantel, Jake Herendeen, Sam Nestler, James D'Amato, Pat Ennis, Connor Nelson, Phil Hopen (this year's MVP), Christian Ortolani, Ben Miele and Chris Williams. The borough was coached by Bill Pellegrino Sr. and inlcuded Jake Knightly, Jake Pyhel, Bill Pellegrino, Adam Parisella, Alex Marsh, Brandon Carrione and Eric Drury.

The township avenged their 2011 loss by scoring a late goal to prevail 12 to 11. It was a great opportunity for the lads, their parents and friends to get together and enjoy a freindly game.

All are hoping to bring the game back outside in 2013.
