They are putting sidewalks in, so safety issues have been addressed. They are visually narrowing the road and installing flashing speed limit signs - that will HELP with speeding issues.
Center islands will cause HAZARDOUS conditions - especially in the winter during snowstorms. Plows will NOT be able to clear the roadway before and after the islands, and the middle of the roadway may become completely impassable. Getting into or out of your own driveways will be TREACHEROUS!
For those that park (even briefly) on the street, it will be dangerous if you are anywhere near a center island. You will be UNABLE to park on the street in front of your own house if you are near a center island. If you do park, you run an even higher risk of getting hit with the passing cars trying to avoid both you AND the center islands.
Call Chatham Borough Hall and just say NO to center islands on Kings Road!
