Luke Ciccarelli Takes Third At Wrestling State Qualifier

Luke Ciccarelli Becomes Sixth Youth Wrestler To Qualify For The Scholastic State Championships

On Sunday Feb. 17, Luke Ciccarelli became the sixth youth wrestler to qualify to represent Chatham in the New Jersey Scholastic State Wrestling Championships.

Luke is Chatham's 116 pounder and one of the team's captains. Luke and his dad, Coach Scot Ciccarelli, traveled to North Burlington High School intent on qualifying at the USAW-NJ State Qualifier at North Burlington.

In round one, Luke needed just 12 seconds to pin his first opponent. Luke then lost his second match but bounced back to beat his next opponent in the consolation round 8-4 to take third place. Luke joins Connor Cortese (70), PJ Joel (85), Drew Mitzak (100), Niccolo Colucci (130) and Jack Chambers (175) who previously qualified at other stare qualifying tournaments.

Luke will be representing Chatham at the Scholastic State Wrestling Championships in the 116 pound weight class on March 23 at Moorestown High School.
