Chatham Youth Wrestlers Pin Their Way To Victory Over New Providence, 63-21

Chatham Wrestlers Beat New Providence

While many residents of Chatham sought shelter and the comforts of home following the historic winter storm of Feb. 8, the Chatham Youth Wrestling Club played host to New Providence. Chatham would "Win Win" this match with 6 pins.

Teddy Joel (50) started the Cougars off with an 11-4 victory over his opponent. Darius Khani (55) then pinned his opponent in the third period of his match. Following a loss at the 60 pound weight class, John Rohe (65) pinned his opponent in 16 seconds. Chatham was then awarded 12 points with forfeits at 70 (Connor Cortese) and 75 (Michael Rohe). Phil Hoerrner (80) then pinned his opponent in the first period. PJ Joel (85) then beat his opponent 9-2 which was followed by a second period pin from Jack Kimber (90).

This put Chatham up 42 to 6. Following losses at 96 and 102, Eric Davis (109) pinned his opponent in the first period. The match of the day came from Luke Ciccarelli (116). Although Luke lost 4-1, it was the best technical match of the day. Matthew Tether (123) then pinned his opponent in 18 seconds.

The most exciting match of the day came from Niccolo Colucci (130). This match featured three periods of roller coaster wrestling with the score tied 9-9 at the end of the third period. Nicolo would secure the win with a takedown in the first period of over time to win 11-9. Timothy Rohe (137) then earned the team 6 additional points with a forfeit. Chatham would forfeit at heavy weight.

The final score, Chatham 63, New Providence 21.

In exhibition, Cyrus Khani (85) pinned his opponent and  Graham Abramo, making his debut, beat his opponent on points.
