Chatham Youth Wrestlers Clobber Hampton-Sandyston 57-30

Chatham youth wrestlers beat Hampton-Sandyston.

On Wednesday January 6, 2013 the Chatham Cougars traveled to Newton New Jersey to face the Cougars of Hampton-Sandyston.

After starting in the hole 6-0, Darius Khani (55) beat his opponent 7-0 and Owen McClintock (60) beat his opponent 9-5 to even the team score at 6. John Rohe (65) then pinned his opponent in 27 seconds to double Chatham's team score and the lead 12-6. Forfeits to Connor Cortese (70) and Aedan Joel (75) gave Chatham a 24-6 lead. Phil Hoerrner (80) then lost a 5-4 heart breaker.

Cyrus Khani (85) earned the team six more points on a forfeit at his weight class. Jack Kiimber(90) then pinned his opponent in 15 seconds to give Chatham a 36 to 9 lead. After losing at 96, 102 and a controversial loss at 109, Luke Ciccarelli (116) beat his opponent 5-4 and Matthew Tether (123) pinned his opponent in the first period of his match. Chatham then got forfeits at 130 (Niccolo Colucci) and 137 (Timothy Rohe).

Following a double forfeit at 147, Chatham then forfeited at heavyweight. The final score, Chatham 57, Hampton-Sandyston 30. In exhibition, Tim Rohe (137) then pinned their heavy weight in the third period. Michael Rohe (75), Connor Cortese (70) and Luke Ciccarelli put on a takedown clinic before pinning their respective opponents in the third period of their exhibition matches.

Cyrus Khani (85) and Willie O'neill(75) both pinned their opponents in the first period of their matches. Dean “Head Shaker" Ciccarelli (87) beat one opponent on points the other by pin. Owen McClintock (60) beat his opponent on points and Teddy Joel (50) beat both of his opponents on points. It was a long night but Chatham wrestled well.
