The first Chatham Borough Christmas Tree Lighting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the front lawn of the Library of the Chathams, 214 Main Street, according to a Chatham Downtown Alliance email.

The Chatham Grade 3 Children's Chorus is scheduled to perform at the event, and attendees can meet Santa. Unwrapped Toys for Tots donations will be accepted.

The Chatham Downtown Alliance suggests residents visit their favorite merchants after the tree lighting, and says businesses are offering extended evening shopping hours for the holiday season
