SAGE TO OFFER FREE SCREENINGS AND TOURS ON CITY OF SUMMIT HEALTHY DAY

On Saturday, September 25th, as part of City of Summit Healthy Day, SAGE Eldercare will be bustling with activity, all with the goal of promoting good health for seniors.  Take this opportunity to participate in free screenings, tours, presentations and to learn about SAGE's extensive offerings for promoting senior health and well-being.

Blood pressure screenings by Pat Stelmach, RN, Coordinator of SAGE's Eldercare Planning and Guidance Program, will be ongoing from 10 AM until 2 PM.  Diabetes screenings by an Overlook Hospital Community Health professional will be available between 10 AM and noon.  Every hour on the hour, 10 AM-2 PM, brain health expert Cori Brandon, MSW, will make a short presentation on how to maintain a healthy brain.  In recognition of National Adult Day Services Week (Sept. 19-25) and SAGE's Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Center's 35th Anniversary, tours of the adult day center will be offered.  Volunteers will also be giving tours of the entire facility, including the state-of-the-art Furniture Restoration Workshop located in the basement. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to gather information from SAGE's InfoCare Department on area senior services and SAGE's caregiver support programs.

Community residents are also encouraged to support SAGE's Meals on Wheels program by dropping off non-perishable food items in the designated box in SAGE's lobby. Other food drop-off locations to benefit Meals on Wheels are also open throughout the area on Summit Healthy Day and during the month of September as part of AlphaGraphics' Fight Hunger Campaign.

Summit Healthy Day is a collaborative effort between the Summit YMCA, Overlook Hospital and Active Summit.  The goal of the day is to provide information and services which will promote the health and well-being of all Summit residents, from tots to seniors, through screenings, education and activities. "We are very excited to be working with many different organizations throughout Summit to promote healthy mind, body and spirit," says Stephanie Kresch, SAGE's Internal Sales Coordinator.
