Reflections Senior Center Support Groups

The Senior Center of the Chathams runs two support groups for women called Reflections. Micki Chaput RN, Executive Director of SeniorServices Center describes Reflections as a program for ladies age 60 and up, that encourages women to experience the strength that comes through the power of friendship with other women experiencing similar life transitions.  "Participation in Reflections,” states Chaput, “has created wonderful new friendships and support.  It has helped participants make important decisions about their lives by sharing their experiences, resources and ideas.  The program provides an avenue for women, especially those new to the area or recently retired or widowed, to meet new people and make new friends in a caring, warm and safe environment where empathy, understanding and support are paramount.  Since a professional group leader facilitates, confidentiality is ensured and we can provide a safe, comfortable setting for our groups".

Reflections 2 is facilitated by area resident Christine Hester.  Chris is a professional Social Worker with much experience leading support groups.  She became the facilitator of Reflections 2 in September of 2008.  Her group recently changed their meeting time to every Tuesday from 2 – 3 pm. The Senior Center also hosts the originalReflections group which meets every Friday morning, and is facilitated by Laura Wise, an art therapist and a resident of Chatham Township. There are a few openings available for both groups.

Area women age 60 and up, interested in joining the Reflections program or needing further information about Reflections should call Micki Chaput at the Chatham Senior Center, (973) 635-4565.
