Couple Raises $1,500 at MS Bike Ride FUNdraiser

Jamie and Jeff Dixon hope to raise another $500 before the bike ride in Florida.

Over 30 Chatham residents gathered at Cafe Beethoven Monday to support Jamie and Jeff Dixon as they train for a 150-mile bicycle ride to raise money for multiple sclerosis.

Jamie and Jeff Dixon gave a toast at the end of the evening recognizing Andy Copp, Mike Lloyd and Nereide "Pete" Marks, her husband Richard and their son Harry, who all provided the venue, food and music for the event.

"This is a very special charity to us," Jamie said. "We feel very fortunate to be able to help a lot of people, with your help."

Jeff compared hers and Jamie's life in Chatham to a book with many chapters. One chapter began when they met doing the MS 150 "Coast-to-Coast" bicycle race 25 years ago; another when they moved to Chatham 19 years ago. Now as they perform the race for the second time, they also start another new chapter with a move to Basking Ridge.

"It really means a lot to us to have raised our family in this village," Jeff said.

They also thanked Tony Britt for providing the idea for the event, and of course, all those who attended and donated to their FUNdraiser.

Donations are still being accepted online.
