Women's Creative Storytelling In Word and Image Lecture Class Held through The Adult School

The Adult School is offering a lecture on Women's Creative Storytelling in Word and Image on Monday 3/31. This class is led by Dr. Soane Drayson-Knigge and it will engage a distinctive collection of graphic narratives written by women as representations of both their everyday and fanciful lives.  We'll start with Nell Brinkley [1907-1930's] and her depictions of the "new woman of the 20th century", then move to the satirical critique of Jackie Ormes, the first African American comics-style writer [1930's-1950's].  From there, we'll direct our focus to a selection of writer-artists.  Among them:  Miriam Katin, Joyce Farmer and Carol Tyler. Class cost: $40 Advance Registration required.
