"The Game's Afoot" Opens at The Summit Playhouse 11/1; Chatham Residents Play Major Roles

The Summit Playhouse is launching its 2013-2014 season with Ken Ludwig's clever, fast-paced twist on a Sherlock Holmes mystery. With delicious characters and dialogue, "The Game's Afoot" delivers uproariously funny, engrossing entertainment from start to finish.

An intriguing blend of fact and fiction, the main character of "The Game's Afoot, William Gillette, was a real-life star of the American stage during the early 20th century. He made his fortune playing the famous fictional detective in "Sherlock Holmes," a play he also wrote. He assumed the role onstage more than 1,300 times over 30 years.

Gillette owned a replica of a medieval castle (still in existence and open for tours today) filled with remarkably forward-thinking gadgets, tricks and mirrors. This is where, in "The Game's Afoot," he invites fellow cast members for a weekend of fun, which takes a sinister turn when one of his guests is literally stabbed in the back - but by whom? Gillette assumes the familiar persona of Sherlock Holmes to solve the case before the assailant can strike again.

Chatham residents participating in the production include co-Producer Joann Scanlon and actor Stacey Petricha, who plays the smart, catty and beautiful theater critic, Daria.

"The Game's Afoot" at The Summit Playhouse will run November 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th at 8pm and 2pm on the 10th. Tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com or 1.800.838.3006.
