Summer Adventures Program – "Secrets of the Civil War"

Summer Adventure Program at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum presents "Secrets of the Civil War" during the week of July 28 to August 1. Secret codes, secret weapons, secret agreements, secret homes!  Each morning, 9am–12 noon, at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum take part in activities that explore this fascinating time in American history. Learn about the frontline of battle, the home front, and delve into some of the secrets of the Civil War.  Throughout the week, participants will see how the war affected the lives of men, women, and children in both the North and the South.  Hands-on projects include building a model of a Civil War battlefield, making replicas of the ships “Merrimack” and “Monitor” and testing them in a water battle, and using the secret code systems used by the Union and Confederate troops. Children will also learn about nineteenth century illustrator Thomas Nast, create an original work of art, and try printing for themselves using brayers and ink.
