It’s not often that you
get to experience a free, live concert by Broadway performers and a super group
of tri-state music legends right in your own backyard; but that’s exactly what
Summit residents will experience on Friday, September 13 as Renaissance Church presents
The First Annual Concert on the Green—a community-wide evening of live music, food,
and fun for the entire family.
Renaissance Church is
partnering with Summit area schools to help ensure that no Summit child will
ever have to endure a school day on an empty stomach. The Concert on the Green event is one way that Renaissance and its
Summit neighbors can make a tangible difference in our community. The event
will take place at The Green (across from the train station) on September 13, with
the food and fun kicking off at 6:00 PM and the concert starting at 7:00 PM.
There will be activities for kids of all ages, food trucks offering a variety
of dining options, and the world-class Renaissance band will perform popular
songs made famous by bands such as U2, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Katy Perry,
Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, and others. Admission is free but everyone is
encouraged to bring a bag of non-perishable food or $20 Target or ShopRite gift
cards to help stock the Summit schools’ food pantries. A list of recommended
non-perishable food items can be found at www.RenaissanceChurch.org. Donation
items can be dropped off at the Outdoor Guest Center at the event. If we all
join together, we can easily reach our goal of 1,000 food items and 200 $20
gift cards!

According to Charlie Pollock, leader of the
Creative Team at Renaissance Church, “Renaissance Church is probably unlike
anything you’ve ever experienced in church before. Renaissance is the church
home of many creative professionals, including musicians, artists, writers, and
filmmakers. Each week, world-class musicians and singers perform an eclectic
mix of mainstream and Christian music to help connect people to God.”
