Chatham Township Cleanup Day

The Chatham Township Environmental Commission sponsors its Twelfth Annual Open Space Workday, RAIN OR SHINE, on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Everyone is invited to come at any time during the morning to visit
the Green Village Pond Conservation Area, what was once an old homestead and is now Chatham Township property. We will pick up trash, prune multiflora rose and Japanese barberry, spread woodchips on the trail, and enjoy a taste of spring.
This area is habitat for birds and wildflowers. The goal of the project is to create a pleasant site for nature walks and nature study.

The Commission thanks ShopRite of Chatham for donating cotton work gloves and plastic trash bags and Chatham Disposal Company for contributing its service for pickup of the trash bags after the cleanup.

Park along Green Village Road across from Melrose Lane. Wear old clothes and rubber boots, and if you wish, bring shovels, pruning shears and loppers and your own work gloves. Plastic bags and cotton work gloves will be provided.

Suitable for families, Scouts, clubs, youth groups, outdoor enthusiasts. Free refreshments. Scout merit badge credit is a possibility. Call Dot Stillinger at 973-377-6992 for more information.
