Book Donations Sought

The Summit College Club is seeking book donations for its annual Book Sale. All books must be in good condition and packed in bags or boxes.

The book drop off in Westy’s lobby will run from 8am to 5pm on weekdays; from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays; and from 11am to 3pm on Sundays.   The Summit College Club Book Sale does not accept textbooks, manuals, magazines or encyclopedias.  All other books are welcome and appreciated, as are CDs and DVDs.

Anita Meritt, who has overseen a significant growth in the annual sale over the past five years, says, “The Summit College Club Book Sale is a win-win endeavor.  Donors have the opportunity to give their used books to a good cause.  And at the sale, customers have the opportunity to buy the books they want at bargain prices.  With Westy donating the space needed to collect the books, and volunteers sorting the books and staffing the sale, nearly all the money received goes to fund our college scholarships for deserving young women.  What could be better?”

What, indeed?  Debby Nedelman, this year’s co-chair, notes that last year’s event saw more than 25,000 books sold over six days, and “everyone had a great time.”

The Book Sale will be held at the American Legion Hall, 357 Elkwood Avenue, New Providence from March 25 through 30, 2014.    The sale is eagerly awaited by dealers and readers from all over the tri-state region.
