Winter Weather Escorts 2009 Out the Door

Chatham residents woke up this morning to white roads and, as a result, somewhat challenging driving conditions.

A low pressure system dropped snow and sleet over the region, blanketing parts of it with snow. Township and borough Department of Public Works workers are now out plowing the roads.

But the snow is expected to soon subside. A winter weather advisory is only in effect until 11am; after that, the precipitation is expected to switch over to rain. National Weather Service officials said a brief period of freezing rain is possible at some point this morning.

Still, people were out and about today salting the sidewalks, shoveling their driveways and enjoying what, for some, is a day off. Check out the photos at right for a glimpse of the scene in Chatham this morning.
