Tornado Warning Issued in Chatham

The Chatham High boys lacrosse game was postponed to Thursday as a precaution.

A tornado watch has been issued for 12 New Jersey counties, including Morris, through Wednesday night at 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Strong thunderstorms could develop during the late afternoon and evening hours, producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and a possible tornado, the NWS said.

According to a statement from Chatham township Police, residents should follow the tornado safety guidelines outlined by the NWS such as take staying away from windows and going to a basement or a bathroom if a tornado hits.

Officials postponed the NJSIAA Tournament boys lacrosse game against Summit High School, originally scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, as a precaution. The game will now take place on Thursday at 5 p.m.
