Tax Assistance and Army Day

And all the other information you need for Wednesday, April 6.

If you think you miss things in town, check out the Five Things You Need to Know Today column:

  1. You need to know about sports: The baseball and softball teams take on Whippany Park today, while the tennis team faces Hopatcong, all at 4 p.m.
  2. You need to know about recycling: Borough residents can have their recycling picked up without sorting, thanks to the single stream recycling which will be collected Wednesday morning.
  3. You need to know about income taxes: Tax Day is getting closer, and the Library of the Chathams offers income tax assistance today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  4. You need to know about planning: The Chatham Borough Planning Boars meets Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Chatham Borough Municipal Building.
  5. You need to know about the army: In 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt issued a proclamation naming April 6 as Army Day. He called it “a day when all of our citizens in civil pursuits can rally to the support of our armed forces, for only in the united effort of all of our forces—Army, Navy, and civilians—can we find the strength to defeat our enemies.”

For other information worth knowing, see the Chatham Patch events calendar and announcements section—and if you've got something the community should know, don't forget to make a post of your own in one or both of those site sections.
