Swim Tournaments and Basketball Games

All the essential information you need to get you through your Tuesday.

Chathamites have the chance to watch the Lady Cougars swim to glory today in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Group 2 tournament semifinals against Princeton today. For further details and other essential information to get you through your Tuesday, we suggest you check out the Five Things You Need to Know Today:

  1. You need to know about recycling: The Tanglewood facility is open from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. for Chatham Township residents to take in their recycling.
  2. You need to know about the library: The Library Board of Trustees meets tonight at 7:30 p.m.
  3. You need to know about schools: This is the last day of winter recess for the School District of the Chathams, so enjoy the day off!
  4. You need to know about high school sports: Once again, no recess for high school athletes. The girls varsity basketball team faces Pequannock Township High School in an away game at 4 p.m.; the girls varsity swim team competes against Princeton High School at Lawrence High School in Lawrenceville, N.J.; and the boys varsity basketball team faces Parsippany Hills in an away game at 7 p.m.
  5. You need to know about today's random holiday: Those of you who read yesterday's "Five Things You Need to Know Today" column already know that Feb. 22 is George Washington's birthday, but you may not know that it is also World Thinking Day. Each year on this day, Girl Scouts throughout the world have the chance to earn their World Thinking Patch by participating in activities, projects and games with global themes. According to the Girl Scouts website, this year's theme is, "Girls worldwide say "empowering girls will change our world."

For other information worth knowing, see the Chatham Patch events calendar and announcements section — and if you've got something the community should know, don't forget to make a post of your own in one or both of those site sections.
